Abstract
Over the years, the technigucs for intraulerine insemination have evolved with variable success rates being reported, and interest in this assisted reproductive technigue has waxcd and waned.
The objective of (his study is to retrospectively evaluale the outcomes of couples who underwent intrauterine insemination irrespective of etiology. 1198 couples underweni 3122 intrauterine insemination treatment cyeles (mean: 2.6 cyeles) in the seven years period between October 1991 and September 1999. In 268 out of 1198 couples pregnancics were achieved resulting in a pregnancy rate of 14.8 Ye per cycle and cumulative pregnancy rate of 22.3 “o per couple.
These results demonistrale that intrauterine insemination in selected cases can be cost effective, reliable and effective pre-IVF (invitro fertilization) treatment step.
