Abstract

Inflammatory pscudotumor of the bladder is a benign proliferative lesion of the submucosal stroma casily mistaken for a malignant neoplasm clinically and radiologically. A case of inflammatory pseudotumor of the blad- der in a 42-year old male is presented. Computerized tomography and cystoscopy of (he mass suggested a malignant, tumor. The patient underwent incomplete transurethral resection of the mass. Pathological examination of this specimen revealed inflammatory pscudotumor of the bladder, and partial cystectomy was performed. Followup cystoscopic examination is normal and he had no evidence of recurrence 12 months after resection, As a conclusion, this lesion must be differentiated histologically from malignant lesion, and complete surgical excision, either by transurethral resection or partial cysectomy, appcars to be curative.
