Abstract

In this study we aimed to evaluate the distribution of age, gender and histopathological grades of our cases with transitional carcinoma of the bladder

497 cases with the diagnosis of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder were evaluated according to their age, gender and tumor grade distribution between 1976 and 1999, retrospectively.

The male to female ratio was 6.9/1. In last years both the ratio of low-grade tumors and the ages of the cases increased. In all surgical procedures, bladder tumor surgery the rates were 3.3% in the firs six years and 11.7% in the last six years.

The number of our bladder tumor cases, bladder tumor surgery rates, the mean ages and the ratio of low-grade tumors increase. With multi-center studies specific etiological factors for our country might be found out, similar treatment strategies might be followed and specific attention might be taken into consideration for preventive measures.
